Summer 2020
Update on Club Opening
We miss all our members dearly, and are excited to announce that we will open for summer on a limited basis. Please note that we are only accepting applications for summer from current school year members.
Our community has given resounding feedback that they want and need out-of-school care for their children and teens; thank you to all our families who have participated in our surveys and made their voices heard.
Due to continued social distancing requirements, and with the safety of our staff and members as our number one priority, this summer will look very different than it has in previous years. We will only be serving up to 30 youth members and 10 teen members at three Club locations: Wattles, Rockwood, and our Inukai Family Club.
This year’s seven week summer program will run between July 13 – August 28, which will be split into two sessions covering the months of July and August. Families must apply for the first three-week session between June 15-19. Applications will ask for proof of your income level in order to determine your cost on a sliding-fee scale, ranging from $45/week to $130/week at the highest for 1st-6th grade youth. Teens in 7th -12th grade will be accepted at $10 weekly. Weekly fees will cover summer programs that run from 1pm – 6pm, with a drop off window from 12:30-1pm. Please review details, important dates, and other expectations and requirements below.
The safety of our youth, teens, families, and staff is our highest priority. Our Clubs will be operating under the State of Oregon’s Emergency Childcare safety and sanitation requirements. As such, if there are any safety concerns that cause us to delay our opening, change our operations, or shut down during summer, families will be notified and refunds will be issued if applicable.
This has been a time of hardship and transition for our community, and we want you to know that we are here for you and happy to answer any questions you might have about our summer programming, applications or the selection process. To get in touch, please reach out to your local Club staff or contact Rachel Schutz, VP of Club Services, at rschutz@bgcportland.org.
Summer Session 1 Families have the option to renew for Summer Session 2.
