Update May 15, 2020:

This week we were notified by Governor Brown that youth facilities could begin reopening on May 15 under strict guidelines and regulations. We are currently assessing our capacity and ability to provide a summer program under these regulations. The state regulations for reopening will be restrictive and change how our programs look this summer. However, we are committed to designing a Club experience that is responsive to our families’ needs, to the best of our ability.

In the meantime, Club staff are here for you. We will continue to provide meal service, community resources, virtual Club programming, and free virtual counseling services until our doors once again open. Learn more here.

PORTLAND, OR. (March 13, 2020)  

Following the most recent guidelines from state officials around school closures in response to the COVID19 public health crisis, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metro (BGCP) has made the difficult decision to close all Clubs starting Monday, March 16. During this closure, all Club-based sports, rentals, and events will also be suspended.  

Updated: We will plan to reopen along with schools on Monday, May 4. In the event of further changes, we will continue to communicate with the public and our families by email, social media, and on our website. 

“This is a decision that weighs very heavily on our team, as we know the added stress it will bring to our families during an already stressful time”, said CEO, Erin Hubert. “We are charged with the health and well-being of our youth and families, staff, volunteers, and our Club communities, and we take that very seriously. As difficult of a decision as it was, we believe the temporary closure of our sites is the safest call to make during this public health crisis.” 

BGCP is currently exploring options to help ensure youth who rely on our services have access to healthy, nutritious meals during this difficult time. 

As an organization, BGCP is committed to providing safe and healthy Clubs for our community. BGCP believes the decision to close is in the best interest and safety of our youth, families, staff, volunteers and community, who are at the heart of every decision we make.
