Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland basketball league gets some love
On Wednesday, Oct. 19th the Trail Blazers youth basketball staff will host a JR. NBA Clinic at the Blazers Boys & Girls Club as part of their national JR. NBA Week agenda. The staff will lead the Club’s Leadership Leagues practice with a fun-filled event sharing athletic and leadership skills that the youth will be able to use on and off the court. In addition, the Club will recognize a staff member who has been a crucial leader in the success of youth programming.
Additionally, through a partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings and its Team Up for Kids mission, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland (BGCP) received an ALL STARS grant to improve sports programming for members. The grant includes funding for athletic programming, team jerseys, equipment, score boards and a recognition component that will award one of their member’s for their extraordinary commitment and athletic leadership.
In 2015, Buffalo Wild Wings provided $2.8 million dollars to fund ALL STAR grants to expose more than 35,000 kids to team sports and sportsmanship. By 2020, Buffalo Wild Wings will have donated more than $16 million to fund football, basketball and cheer programs at local Boys & Girls Clubs across the nation. This October, Buffalo Wild Wings’ customers can join their mission through donations from purchases of sauce and seasoning bottles and also by attending fundraising events in restaurants nationwide.
