Our Clubs are Building a Bridge of Support this Holiday Season

As 2020 is swiftly passing by (many thinking, thankfully), the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland is meeting our families exactly where they are at.

This November and December, you will notice a trend among each club – Holiday Meal Distribution. With generous support from the Oregon Health Authority Health Equity Grant, we are able to provide family meals throughout Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays while supporting local food businesses.

As COVID-19 cases begin to spike, Clubs and local businesses have to get creative to keep our families, staff, and volunteers safe. Meals are pre-packaged and distributed for each family to take to-go. Some families drive up to get their meals, and some wait in line, 6 feet apart, to collect the meals they need. Our Clubs are providing as many meals as families need!

Throughout our Clubs – Blazers, Regence, Wattles, Rockwood, Inukai and North Clackamas – we are distributing over 2,800 free meals this holiday season for our club communities

From trying to balance work, tending to the needs of my kids emotionally and academically has been a strain. We are having to buy more groceries and utilities have been higher due to being in the home more. Every little bit of help is appreciated. – Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland parent
